MEET KELLY GREEN
A Leader Who Listens, Serves, and Delivers for Franklin County
For more than 15 years, Kelly Green has dedicated her career to serving families in Franklin County. She is the Chief Magistrate in the Probate Court, where she focuses on making the court easier for people to navigate — improving technology, simplifying processes, and creating a workplace that better reflects the diverse community it serves. Under her leadership, the court has increased staff diversity, ensured equal pay, and expanded the free legal resources available to the public.
Leading with Compassion, Fairness, and Respect.
Kelly believes the Probate Court should treat everyone with fairness, compassion, and respect. That belief shows in her work outside the courtroom — helping open a free legal resource center for small estates, partnering with Legal Aid to support families in guardianship cases, and connecting with LGBTQ+ Ohioans through free clinics that assist with name and birth record changes. She also leads the Court’s National Adoption Day celebrations each year, helping children find safe and loving homes.

Known across Ohio as a trusted expert in probate law, Kelly has taught and trained judges and magistrates, created the statewide training manual used for new probate magistrates, and contributed to important reforms that protect families — including updates to adoption and guardianship laws.

Kelly is a proud Ohio native, raised in Massillon. She graduated with honors from Ohio University and earned her law degree magna cum laude from New England Law. Today, she lives in Reynoldsburg and remains close with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys ceramics, reading, and spending time with her niece and nephews.
